My senior thesis project documents the beautiful things that inspire me to create within my series, Dreamland, LA.  Whether directing short films, working on photography or exploring a new idea through typography and graphic design, my work seeks to convey whimsical feelings and a sense of thrill from playing dress up as a little girl or the passion I’ve felt watching the sunset on warm summer nights. A strong sense for aesthetics and appreciation for design lingers at the heart of the project.

The series follows the journey of myself and a few fellow artists to see what our Dreamland inspires us to create.  Each selection is precisely curated to capture an ephemeral moment in time when perhaps the perfect song was playing and the breeze hit just right to seal the moment as memory. 

This photo series and film explore the theme of nostalgia where heart-melting moments begin.   I want the viewer to feel the passion I’ve felt while watching the sunset on warm summer nights in Los Angeles, while sinking my toes into the sand at the beach; or the sense of nostalgia from remembering walking around in mom’s fanciest pair of shoes that are two sizes too big. My hope is that this series evokes a sense of nostalgia in whoever looks at it, even if they aren’t sure where it comes from.
